Remove mescnetwork.pro pop-up ads
mescnetwork.pro is a deceptive website whose sole purpose is to trick users into allowing desktop ads. When you get redirected to the site, you will immediately get a browser alert saying “mescnetwork.pro wants to show notifications”. The site is misusing a legitimate browser feature, so if you click “Allow”, you will authorize the site to show ads on your desktop. Legitimate sites would show legitimate content, while sites like mescnetwork.pro show ads. What’s more, those ads could expose you to potentially dangerous content, including scams and even malware. If you have given it permission, do not interact with it and revoke the permission as soon as possible. This is not difficult to do, but you can find instructions at the end of the report.
While this feature can sometimes be abused, it does have legitimate applications. As long as a site is safe, it can be given permission to show notifications. The notifications typically contain the site’s content. For instance, if you enable notifications for a news site, you will receive important news updates directly on your desktop. If you decide you no longer want to see these notifications, revoking that permission is straightforward.
However, not all sites should be given permission. Sites like mescnetwork.pro can misuse this feature to bombard users with advertisements. Upon entering mescnetwork.pro, you’ll see a browser alert saying “mescnetwork.pro wants to show notifications”. Given the dubious nature of the site, any notifications you permit will likely be problematic, even expose you to malicious content. These ads may appear in the same location as legitimate system notifications, which can lead to you mixing up the two. Additionally, they might be designed to mimic actual notifications. Therefore, if you’ve granted permission for this site, it’s best to avoid interacting with any notifications to minimize the risk of encountering harmful content, at least until you revoke mescnetwork.pro’s permission to show notifications.
We highly recommend running a scan with anti-virus software WiperSoft to check for adware, as this could be the source of the problem. If adware is present, you will need to remove it to stop the redirects. Alternatively, if the redirects are stemming from sites you visit, you just need to install an ad blocker.
Random redirects can be triggered by adware
In most instances, being redirected to sites like mescnetwork.pro happens because you browse high-risk websites. Sites that contain pornography or pirated content are great examples of such sites, as they tend to expose users to large amounts of dubious ads. Clicking on anything when on such sites could lead to a redirect. To avoid these redirects and intrusive ads, install an ad blocker.
It’s also possible that the redirects are the result of an adware infection. Infections like adware, browser hijackers, and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) use the software bundling method to infect systems. This method allows them to be attached to free programs as extra offers and install automatically, often without explicit consent. While these offers are technically optional, they have to be manually deselected to prevent their installation.
To prevent unwanted offers from being installed alongside your free programs, install them using Advanced or Custom settings. Even though the installation window might suggest Default settings, selecting these settings will hide offers and allow them to be installed without your explicit agreement. On the other hand, using Advanced settings reveals all additional offers and gives you the option to uncheck any that you don’t want.
While some offers might appear useful at first, it’s best to avoid allowing their installation. Once they’re installed, they can be challenging to remove, so it’s far easier to prevent them from being installed in the first place by simply unchecking a few boxes.
