Ftheskillsfe.biz pop-up removal

Ftheskillsfe.biz is a highly questionable website that tries to trick you into subscribing to ads. The site will show an alert saying “Ftheskillsfe.biz wants to show you notifications”, and if you press “Allow”, you will start seeing ads on your desktop.

The site is practically identical to a lot of other sites, and they’re all pushing a social engineering scam that tries to trick users into subscribing to ads. When you get redirected to such a site, a browser alert will appear asking you to permit the site to send you notifications. This is a legitimate browser feature that can allow websites to send users notifications, if users allow them. This feature can be useful in certain cases, for example users can allow a news website to send notifications in order to keep users updated on important news stories without them needing to visit the site. But as can be expected, the feature is misused by scam websites to spam users with ads.

If you press allow in the pop-up alert that asks you to allow Ftheskillsfe.biz to send you notifications, you will start seeing a lot of ads, even on your desktop. This is, obviously, very annoying behaviour. However, it could also be somewhat dangerous because the ads will not always be safe. They will appear similarly to legitimate system notifications, so you may be tricked into engaging with malicious ads. For example, you may see an ad disguised as an update alert, and you could end up downloading something malicious if you’re not careful.

There’s no reason why you should allow a questionable site like Ftheskillsfe.biz to show you notifications, as they’re only ads. You also get nothing from it. If you have pressed “Allow” when prompted, you need to revoke that permission, and you can use the instructions provided at the very end to help you. You also need to determine why you were redirected to Ftheskillsfe.biz in the first place.

Why are you being redirected to Ftheskillsfe.biz

There are a couple of possible reasons why you are being redirected to Ftheskillsfe.biz, and that’s either you have adware installed or you were redirected by the site you were visiting. If it’s adware, you’re likely getting redirected constantly, in comparison to getting redirected only once or twice if the site you were on is at fault.

If you were visiting a high-risk website, it could have triggered the redirect. This is not uncommon, especially when visiting sites that have pornography or pirated content on them. If you visit them, it’s recommended to at least have adblocker and anti-virus installed.

It’s a bit more complicated if you’re dealing with adware. If you are redirected by adware, you will need to get rid of it to stop Ftheskillsfe.biz redirects. If you’re wondering how adware managed to install, it likely came attached to a free program you installed. Free programs often have adware, browser hijackers and potentially unwanted programs attached to them, and they’re set to install alongside automatically. You can prevent these installations if you pay attention when installing freeware. During installation, opt for Advanced (Custom) settings instead of Default. Advanced settings will make all extra offers visible, and you will be able to deselect all of them. Simply uncheck the boxes, and after that you can continue the freeware installation.

To permanently delete Ftheskillsfe.biz redirects, you need to determine why you’re being redirected. If it’s was caused by the site you were visiting, as long as you have adblocker installed, the redirects shouldn’t happen. However, if you are redirected by adware, you need to get rid of it. Using anti-virus software to do that would be easiest because the program would take care of everything for you.

If you have granted the site to show you notifications, you need to revoke that permission. Below you can find instructions on how to do that, and fortunately, it’s pretty easy. You can also disable the feature altogether so that you do not receive any requests for notifications at all.

  • For Mozilla Firefox: Open menu (the three bars top-right corner) -> Options -> Privacy & Security. Scroll down to Permissions, press on Settings next to Notifications, and remove Ftheskillsfe.biz. You can permanently turn off these notification requests by checking the “Block new requests asking to allow notifications” box in the same Notifications settings.
  • For Google Chrome: Open menu (the three dots top-right corner) -> Settings -> Privacy and security -> Site Settings. Click on Notifications under Permissions, and remove Ftheskillsfe.biz. You can stop these notification requests permanently by toggling off “Sites can ask to send notifications”.
