How to remove Okenosuppos.xyz ads

Okenosuppos.xyz is a very questionable website that tries to trick users into permitting ads on the desktop. If you get redirected to the site, you will be shown a browser alert saying “Okenosuppos.xyz wants to show notifications”. If you click “Allow”, the site will start showing notifications on your desktop. It’s not a good idea to interact with those notifications because you could be exposed to potentially dangerous content.

Okenosuppos.xyz is practically identical to Oveosgrupont.xyz, Nyseafaring.xyz, and Erawasnos.xyz. These sites are more or less the same, they are all made to appear like they’re entertainment news websites focused on sports, movies, or celebrities. Okenosuppos.xyz also displays a message saying you should enable notifications. As soon as you enter the site, a browser alert will appear saying “Okenosuppos.xyz wants to show notifications”. If you click “Allow”, the site will start showing ads on the desktop. These notifications would appear at a similar place to legitimate system notifications so it is possible to confuse them. Considering that the site itself is quite suspicious, its shown advertisements will likely be much worse. You could be exposed to potentially dangerous content, including malware and scams. If you have given the site permission, avoid interacting with the notifications. You should also revoke that permission as soon as possible. If you don’t know how to do that, you can use the directions provided at the very end of the report.

Even if plenty of sites like Okenosuppos.xyz misuse this push notifications feature to spam desktops with ads, it still has legitimate uses. Provided a website is legitimate, you can safely allow it to show you push notifications. The contents of those notifications depend on what the site usually posts. For example, a news website would show news alerts. When you no longer want to see the notifications, you can easily revoke that permission.

We suggest scanning the computer with anti-virus software like WiperSoft just in case an adware infection is why you’re redirected. If it’s not adware, install an adblocker program to block redirects and intrusive ads when visiting high-risk websites.

Redirects are often triggered by an adware infection

Random redirects to questionable sites like Okenosuppos.xyz can usually be explained by either an adware infection or users visiting high-risk websites. If you were browsing a particular website and clicked on something when the redirect happened, it’s likely the site that’s at fault. Certain sites, particularly those that have adult or pirated content, will often have questionable ads and trigger redirects. It’s highly recommended that you install an adblocker program to block the pop-ups.

However, if the redirects happen when you’re browsing safe sites that previously gave you no trouble, your computer may have an adware infection. It’s not anything serious, more of an annoyance than actually dangerous. It will mainly focus on exposing you to advertisement content. If you’re wondering how adware managed to install onto your computer, it likely came attached to a free program you installed. This method is known as software bundling. To explain simply, infections like adware, browser hijackers, and potentially unwanted program (PUPs) come attached to free software as extra offers. Those offers are preselected to install alongside automatically unless they are manually deselected. However, while the offers are optional, they are hidden initially. Many users simply do not notice them when installing free programs, which is why they’re often caught off guard when they realize their computers are infected.

As long as you pay attention to how you install free programs, you will be able to prevent unwanted installations without much trouble. Simply opt for Advanced (Custom) settings when given the option instead of Default. The installation window will say that you should use Default but those settings will conceal all offers and allow their installation. On the other hand, if you opt for Advanced, all added offers will be made visible. You will also have the option to deselect all offers. Since software bundling is a questionable method, we don’t recommend allowing any of the offers to install. If you do, your computer will be filled with junk that’s difficult to get rid of in no time.
