Remove Facebook-info.com Virus

What is facebook-info.com

facebook-info.com is a rogue website that shows highly questionable content and asks that you allow it to show you notifications. It’s not a site you should interact with because it will expose you to potentially dangerous content that could lead to a serious malware infection. It will also try to get you to agree to notifications, and if you do, your screen will be bombarded with ads non-stop.

You were probably randomly redirected to the site. If you were browsing sites hosting adult entertainment videos, copyrighted films and TV series for free, etc., that could be the site that redirected you. Those sites are known for hosting a lot of potentially dangerous ads, as well as for redirecting users to weird sites. If that is the case, as long as have adblocker installed and block pop-ups, you should be fine. However, if you’re constantly redirected to the site, you could have adware installed on your device. Adware is relatively harmless by itself, but its generated ads a different story. They are not checked, meaning they could easily expose you to malware or scams. If you are dealing with adware, you will need to first get rid of it to remove facebook-info.com redirects.

It’s not a good idea to interact with facebook-info.com, nor should you allow it to show you notifications. However, if it’s too late, we strongly suggest you scan your computer with anti-malware. You will also need to revoke the permission to show notifications, and you can do that by following the instructions at the very end of the report.

Why are you redirected to facebook-info.com

Like we said above, if you’re redirected to facebook-info.com, you were either visiting a questionable website, or you have adware installed. As long as you have adblocker enabled when browsing, pop-ups and redirects should be blocked. However, if you have been redirected to facebook-info.com numerous times, even when browsing safe websites, you are likely dealing with adware.

Adware installs together with free software in what’s called software bundling. Browser hijackers, adware and potentially unwanted programs often come attached to free software as additional offers, and if users do not deselect them, they install alongside. Most users do not prevent these installations because they are not aware of the offers in the first place.

When you are installing freeware, it’s important that you pay attention to the process. Most importantly, you need to opt for Advanced (Custom) settings when given the option. Those settings will make all offer visible, and you will be able to deselect all of them. All you need to do is uncheck the boxes. Because most of those offers will be useless, we suggest you deselect all offers whenever you’re installing a program. Otherwise, you’ll quickly fill up your computer with junk.

Should you allow facebook-info.com to show notifications?

When you get redirected to facebook-info.com, a notification will pop up asking you to allow the site to show you notifications. The site itself may be showing pornographic videos, to view which you are asked to allow notifications. It’s basically asking whether it can show you more annoying ads. If you press “Allow”, you start getting many more ads when browsing. They will appear constantly. This can affect all browsers you have installed on which you press “Allow”, whether it’s Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

If you have agreed to show notifications, you should avoid interacting with any ads until you revoke the permission. Fortunately, revoking that permission is not difficult. facebook-info.com is clearly a very unreliable website, which means the ads it will show you will be highly questionable. You could get ads promoting malware disguised as legitimate programs or scams.

Allowing notifications on any site, even if it’s safe, is not likely to be useful. You should especially be careful not to allow them on sites you do not know.
