Remove Urretyequirements.xyz ads

Urretyequirements.xyz is a generic fake sports news website that pushes a social-engineering scam that tricks users into allowing advertisements on the desktop. When you get redirected to the site, you will get a browser alert saying “Urretyequirements.xyz wants to show notifications”. If you click “Allow”, ads will start appearing on your desktop. Interacting with those ads is not recommended because you could be exposed to dangerous content.

Because the feature is legitimate, you can allow push notifications as long as a site is safe. If you allow a particular site to show notifications, they would appear on the desktop’s right side. The contents of those notifications depend on what the site usually posts. For example, a news website would show push notifications with important news in them. When you no longer wish to see these notifications, you can easily revoke that permission. Instructions will be provided at the very end of the report.

Sites like Urretyequirements.xyz often take advantage of this push notifications feature to spam users’ desktops with advertisements. You may have already noticed that the site itself has zero content on it. It’s supposed to be a sports news website but it only contains instructions on how to enable push notifications. If you give it permission to show notifications, ads will start appearing on the desktop. Because the ads appear on the right side of the desktop, it’s possible to confuse them with legitimate system notifications. Because they could expose you to potentially dangerous content, you need to be very careful to not interact with them. Otherwise, you could be exposed to malware or scams. So if you have given it permission, revoke it as soon as possible.

Before anything else, you should determine why you’re being redirected. The two possible reasons for such redirects are high-risk sites you visit or adware. If it is adware, you would need to use anti-virus software to remove it, thus stopping the redirects. If there is no adware, install an adblocker program to block redirects and pop-ups.

Redirects to questionable sites can be triggered by adware

The most likely culprit for why you are redirected to Urretyequirements.xyz is high-risk sites that you visit. Certain websites are considered to be high-risk due to the ads they host, and interacting with anything on those sites would trigger a redirect or a pop-up ad. If you visit those sites on a regular basis, it’s recommended that you have an adblocker program installed.

It’s also possible that your computer is infected with adware. If that is the case, the redirects are likely happening on a regular basis, even when visiting safe sites. Adware is a rather minor computer infection that mainly focuses on exposing users to as much advertisement content as possible. Adware, browser hijackers, and potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) use software bundling to install. This method allows such programs to install without users even noticing, as explicit permission is not necessary. The way software bundling works is infections like adware can come attached to free software as extra offers. These extra offers are permitted to install alongside without requiring additional permission. However, the offers are optional so you can prevent unwanted installations.

To prevent unwanted offers from installing, pay attention when installing freeware. The offers will initially be hidden but you can make them visible by opting for Advanced (Custom) settings during the installation. Default settings, even if the installation window recommends using them, will hide all offers and allow their installation. However, if you choose Advanced, not only will you be able to review what has been added, you’ll also be given the option to deselect the ones you do not want. We recommend always deselecting all offers because they will be of no use to you.

It should be mentioned that the majority of free programs you download from non-official websites will come with these offers. Do not allow any of these unwanted installations. Otherwise, your computer will be filled with junk programs that can be difficult to get rid of.

To determine why you’re redirected to sites like Urretyequirements.xyz, you need to scan your computer with anti-virus software like WiperSoft. If adware is what’s causing you to get redirected, the redirects will stop only when the adware is no longer present. Manually removing the adware could be tricky, which is why it’s better to use anti-virus software. If your anti-virus detects no adware, the sites you visit are likely the issue. If you frequently visit high-risk websites, make sure to have an adblocker program enabled to block these redirects and other intrusive advertisements.

Lastly, if the site has permission to show notifications on your desktop, revoke that permission as soon as possible. If you know your way around your browser’s settings, revoking that permission should not be difficult.
