myGames Search is a browser hijacker, advertised as a search engine to look for games. It can be obtained from the official browser stores but it may also enter a computer via free software bundles. These kinds of infections are the reason why you need to be very careful about what you install onto your computer, and how you do it. You could end up with all kinds of unwanted programs otherwise. It’s not a serious infection if that’s what you are worried about but it may still be able to expose you to some rather unreliable content, which could lead to a much more serious infection. Browser hijackers aim to redirect users to sponsored sites because that is how they generate income. And in order to do that, they need to change your browser’s settings. There is no reason why you should put up with, just uninstall myGames Search.
How do hijackers spread?
Browser hijackers are added to freeware as additional offers, and in order to avoid their installation, you need to deselect them. This is easily done if you choose Advanced or Custom settings when you install programs. If anything has been added to the program, you need to deselect it. We do not recommend engaging with the site as the provided search engine could be inserting sponsored content into the results. Hijackers aim to redirect you and that is how they do it. You should also know that some hijackers are able to insert malicious links among the legitimate results. If you were unlucky, you could end up pressing on something dangerous, and that could lead to a serious infection. This is why you should remove myGames Search as soon as possible.
